The NET is a small school within Mill Valley Middle School that employs project-based learning to educate and motivate students using interdisciplinary projects that involve community participation. Currently the students are working on a Horse Hill Project where the students have discovered the history, ecology and complex political issues that surround the herd of 14 horses thriving on part of an Open Space Preserve. Rangers, naturalist, horse owners, historians, anthropologist, archeologist, and wildlife researchers have shared their perspectives on Horse Hill and offered students numerous opportunities to learn about their community beyond the classroom.
